Please be advised that the Department of State (DOS) has
recently revised the Summer Work and Travel (SWT) Program Dates.
Please note, these dates apply to all sponsors and will be
enforced by AAG in order to comply with the DOS. In addition, students are
still subject to their university’s break schedule and as a sponsor we will
ensure that students' travel does not interfere with their school’s dates.
More info can be found online at http://j1visa.state.gov/sponsors/current/regulations-compliance/
Full calendar of dates can be found at http://employers.allianceabroad.com/files/dos-dates-2012.png
To summarize, here are the most impacted countries:
- Thailand dates are May 5 - September 30. Most universities have a break that falls between March and June, but there are some that have traditional summer dates. Students can only participate during their university's schedule. (And most are moving towards summer dates in the next 1 - 3 years...)
- China has a shorter program dates than previously. Participants from China now need to return to school in September.
- Colombian students may only participate in the summer months.
